Our Solution
Our dedicated Electrical Solutions Team has decades of experience providing engineered and well-designed electrical systems and construction work packages.
Your facility’s electrical system provides the power necessary to operate your plant safely and effectively. A properly designed power system, from utility connection to point of utilization, is critical to meet your business goals and your community and environmental commitments. At Beta-Tech, we engineer the solution that best fits your requirements – from small power distribution load centers to MCC and switchgear to complete electrical houses, complete with the cable and routing design. Your unique conditions and requirements drive our efforts to provide what you need for success.
Using our licensed version of the ETAP® software, we model your entire electrical system, or a component of it, and analyze the model for data instrumental in the design and safety of your power system. We go beyond simple design and create a variety of reports for your records, such as arc flash and short circuit studies, in order to provide sufficient documentation to meet your specific operational needs. We have also modelled and analyzed electrical systems using SKM and EasyPower, should you already have a model for your facility in one of these other software platforms.
Major equipment vendors often provide their system as a complete mechanical package on a skid or in a building – without any of the electrical, control, and safety systems required to allow the equipment to operate. We use the third party vendor drawings to engineer the electrical infrastructure that the equipment needs, while considering your unique electrical specifications and preferences. By tailoring our design according to your specific needs using your preferred electrical materials, your electrical maintenance team will already have procedures and spare parts to support the new package. We also design for the instrumentation your plant control and safety systems need to integrate the package with your overall plant.
Electrical design for a facility requires more than just consideration of the power system. Control and safety systems are heavily dependent on a sound electrical infrastructure design to ensure every signal can transmit from instrument to controller, reliably and without corruption. IT and communication networks have devices that require proper installation and fiber optic or copper cables. Buildings need power distribution, fire and gas detection, and automation systems (HVAC and security). Field instrumentation requires junction boxes, cables, and tray or conduit. Beta-Tech engineers the design to fully integrate all these components of a plant, and provides construction work packages that include electrical drawings and scope documents for your electrical contractor to use in the construction of your facility.
Proper electrical installation first requires an engineer to decide the electrical classification of an area by investigating the probability of sufficient explosive gas accumulating to create a hazardous atmosphere. This hazardous area classification includes not just boundary limits, but also gas group classification and determination of auto-ignition temperatures so that the correct equipment can be selected. We provide hazardous area classification drawings and details, along with gas analysis and fugitive emission reports. Our reports also recommend ventilation and detection requirements to minimize and lower an area’s classification.
